Week in Review Week 20 (February 3-7) - Research

Hi Everyone,

Social/Science

This week our big focus was embarking on an animal research project. As a part of our exploration of the Arctic, we had the opportunity to explore different animals that live in the Arctic. We have been using the website https://www.pebblego.com/ (the website unfortunately won't work on home computers) to help guide our research. We had the opportunity to pick animals ranging from Polar Bears, to Caribou, to Musk Oxen. To support our research, we organized our visual journals into sections, answering what the animal can, have and are.

Following this, we learned how to make our first every Google Slides! We had a lot of fun and were so excited to learn how to use our Google Drive's.

Math

This week in math, we worked with cuisenaire rods while focusing on Place Value. We are finding how important place value is in our world, as we understand how numbers are made and composed of. Next week we will continue to look at subtraction!

Black History Month

This week we began looking at Black History Month. Black History Month is recognized every February to recognize the many African American/Canadian individuals that helped pave the way for the freedom and opportunities of individuals today. We learned about Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks and their significant contribution to the freedom rights movement. We also learned about W.C Handy, an accomplished Jazz Musician.
